DIY decor to spread the christmas cheer
The festive season of cheers, cake, cookies, and coziness is here and we couldn’t keep calm!
The bonfire is lit, the cookies and cupcakes are in the oven, the dinner menu is all set, the house is lit with warm fairy lights, the holiday movie list is curated and the coziest socks and blankets are awaiting your presence!
This year to take the festive fervor a notch higher, we have come up with an easy-to-do Christmas decor DIY’s guide that is not only easy on the pockets and the environment but also makes for a great reason to spend more time with loved ones.
1. Cheerful Christmas table decor
With the onset of the festive season, your dining room will be filled with love, laughter, and good food. It should reflect your excitement and can also become a great conversation starter!
Start off by placing a table runner or a table cover and choose the color scheme depending on the aesthetics you wish to explore. The next step is to choose a lighting source on the table which could be candles or fairy lights. Once that’s set, move ahead with adding some festive cheer by adding some zero-waste cloth buntings at the table circumference and some Christmas ornaments spread across the table!
For a finishing touch, add some environmentally friendly table placemats and coasters with a dash of vibrancy to your table decor.
2. Don’t neglect the entrances and staircases
These are excellent yet underrated spaces to add to the Christmas vibes. Make joyful wall hangings with Christmas ornaments and stockings. You can explore our handmade and zero-waste collection of ornaments where you will find candy canes, stars, rustic wooden beaded hangings, and so much more exciting stuff.
3. Handwritten Letters
Christmas is all about spreading love and happiness and everyone loves to be reminded of the adoration you feel for them. What could be a better way to do that than writing letters to your near and dear ones and that too on handmade paper! Not just receiving letters brings happiness but pouring out your emotions on a piece of paper is truly cathartic for the writer as well!
Here is a DIY kit you can use for making handmade papers and go somewhat old-school this festive season!
4. Make a DIY wreath
What is a better expression of Christmas than a wreath?! Make one using the already available craft material present in your house or give your creativity wings by reusing whatever you find.
You can take inspiration from our Zero waste Christmas Wreath which is made by taking conscious efforts to make this environmentally friendly by using fabric scraps that otherwise would go to waste.
You'll instantly be transported back to Grandma's house with these handmade ornaments.
5. Salt Dough Ornaments
To make your own, combine 1 cup of salt, 1 1/2 cups of warm water, and 4 cups of all-purpose flour in a mixing basin. Knead the dough until it is smooth and firm. Cut the necessary shapes from the rolled-out dough (use a straw to poke a hole for hanging). Bake at 300°F for about an hour, or until dry, then let cool completely.
And while you are indulging in baking, make sure to pop some Christmas cookies in the oven as well!
Merry Christmas xoxo
