House Of Ekam sells a variety of fitting options for its curtains ranging from basics like pocket rod to everyone’s favourite eyelets to pinch pleated.
Pocket rod
A rod pocket or a pocket rod fitting refers to a fitting where the fabric is folded at the top to make it look like it has a sleeve/pocket through which a curtain rod can go through. It’s one the simplest fitting and gives a clean look to the curtain. Creates soft gathers and the rod gets completely hidden. However, it might be a little tough to manoeuvre the curtain in this fitting but it can be easily sewn at home as well.
Loops
Tab Top or Loop fitting means where 3inch loops are sewn at the top of the fitting through which the rod can go through. The curtain moves through the loops which allows easy movement of the curtain. The loops are evenly spaced and are made of the same fabric. The loop can come with buttons as well in case of a stationary rod.
Back loops
Same as loop fitting but where the loops are sewn at the back of the curtain making the loops invisible and giving a seamless look to the curtain. The pleats with these curtains look tailored and the rod is completely or partially hidden. Back Loops or Hidden Tab or Back Tab Fitting is an elegant drape without the need for channel fitting hooks. Extremely easy to install just like loops but a neater and pleated look. It can be used for any kind of fabric ranging from cotton to chiffon to silk to polyester.
Loops with buttons
Loop with buttons fitting refers to a curtain hanging where the loops (generally 3-4inches) are fitted with buttons. This fitting is particularly helpful in the case of a fixed rod. The buttons can be opened up and but through the rod eliminating the need for the rod to come out hence making the fitting functional.
Channel fitting
It refers to a fitting option where a channel track is fitted at the back of the curtain through which hooks can be put inside and attached to the track installed at your home. The curtains are not pleated but the fitting when gathered gives a pleated look to the curtain. This track fitting strip is generally sewn at the back of the curtain and has 3 locations one below the other (through which hooks can go through) to manage the length of the curtain.
Eyelets
Also known as grommets, eyelet fitting style means where round metal rings (grommets) are inserted at the top of the curtain (my making a round hole at the top) and then the curtain rod can pass through the round grommets. An extremely functional fitting option where the colour of the metal ring can be customized to any colour as well. They are a low maintenance curtain system where the curtain can easily glide through the rod.
Pinch pleat
Pinch pleat fitting is an extremely neat and formal way of curtain fitting. The top is collected into evenly spaced pleats that are sewn at the top. Along with the pleats generally a channel fitting strip is sewn at the back through which the hooks can go in. Hotels, Formal Living Spaces or even bedrooms prefer pinch pleat since the look is premium and polished.
Box pleat
Box pleat fitting refers to a style of curtain fitting where the fabric is gathered into small boxes and then sewn at the top. The top is collected into evenly spaced pleats that look like a box Along with the pleats generally a channel fitting strip is sewn at the back through which the hooks can go in. Hotels, Formal Living Spaces or even bedrooms prefer pinch pleat since the look is premium and polished.

Cotton Slub
Cotton Slub fabric is mainly known for its unique texture of cross section and lumps or thicker spots in the yarn. Slub Fabric has a slightly rustic organic look like linen and is primarily used for apparel and home furnishings. The fabric is soft and breathable and slightly uneven to touch due to its weaving nature. We at House of Ekam use a lot of cotton slub fabrics for our curtains. From blockprints to embroidered cushions slub fabrics are widely used for multiple uses. One of our bestselling designs the Guldasta Cypress Poppy Curtain is made on Cotton Slub.
Cambric
One of the most widely used fabrics for apparel like Kurtis and suit sets. Its lightweight, tightly woven and plain weave fabric made from 100% cotton. It has a nice clean finish and highly breathable. Its soft and gentle on the skin, easy to sew and takes a slight shine when printed. One of our best selling designs Yellow and Green Floral Buti Curtain is made on Cambric imparting slight shine and a great look to the curtains.
Chiffon
Chiffon fabric is a lightweight, sheer, and flowing fabric made from various fibers like silk, polyester, nylon, or rayon. Known for its delicate drape and airy feel, chiffon is widely used in sarees, dupattas and scarves. House Of Ekam was one of the first few brands to use Chiffon in curtains for its airy feel. Look and feel of chiffon is extremely sheer and breathable making it a great alternative to regular polyester. It’s a plain weave fabric with slight twists and its lightweight nature makes it a wonderful way to layer curtains. Having sold over 3000 pieces our Chiffon Iris Curtain is a keeper.
Maheshwari Silk
Maheshwari silk is a luxurious handwoven fabric that originates from Maheshwar, a historic town in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is traditionally made using a blend of silk and cotton and is celebrated for its lightweight feel, slight sheen, and distinctive Zari borders. House of Ekam is one of the first few brands to print curtains on this lustrous fabric. Our Oleander curtain is a great example of that and combines wonderfully with our other designs.
Banarsi Cotton Silk
It’s a luxurious lightweight handloom fabric which originates from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. It’s a blend of cotton and art silk (a form of polyester). Its lightweight, has a slight sheen and breathable. It’s heavier than silk but lighter than cotton and has an elegant look and feel to it. Our best selling designs of Banarsi Floral Buta or Off White Chevron is a testament to our commitment to retaining the legacy of Banarsi weaves.
Khadi
Khadi isn’t just a fabric—it’s a movement. It’s deeply tied to India’s freedom struggle, where spinning khadi became a way to promote self-sufficiency and national pride. Khadi is known for being skin friendly, is entirely handspun and is the pioneer in sustainability. The texture is slightly coarse, textured, and breathable. Khadi is organic, natural and has an uneven texture due to hand spinning. Our khadi curtain is a great example to provide a white textured curtain to your home.

At House of Ekam, craft is the backbone of everything we do. From reinventing many indigenous craft techniques to reviving forgotten Indian Handicrafts, our range of curtains features many techniques like Hand Blockprint, Bandhani, Khadi, Dabu, Handloom, Solid, Ruffle etc.
Hand Blockprint
One of the most prevalent crafts in India and for us at House of Ekam, majority of our designs feature gorgeous sanganeri inspired blockprints originated in Jaipur. Blockprinting as a technique requires skill and precision with each block carved from wood by master artisans. Once the block is carved, they are dipped in oil and a color of our choice is prepared. Any blockprint can range from 2-10 colours depending upon the complexity of the design. For curtains we take inspiration from flora and fauna and each block is dipped in the color and repeated rounds of the block is pressed on the fabric to perfect the design. Once the fabric is ready, we at our own warehouse stitch curtains in available lengths and fitting options
Bandhani
Bandhej or Bandhani is an age old technique derived from the word ‘bandhna’ which means to tie. Originally from Kutch in Rajasthan, the technique of Bandhej follows a simple pattern of tie up fabric at regular intervals using nails at the fingertips. Once the entire fabric is tied it is then dipped in a color of our choice. Once dyed the tied-up fabric is opened and patterns emerge from the undyed ties making a beautiful symmetry.
Ruffle Curtains
A modern interpretation of giving volume to a curtain, ruffle curtains are fun and quirky. Here our expert karigars gather fabric at small distances of 1cm to make ruffles at the sides of the curtains. Depending upon the tightness of the ruffles our tailors can do loose or tight ruffles to give a distinct look. Ruffles can also be added on cushions, table runners or even napkins.
Khadi
Khadi also known as India’s fabric was first woven by Mahatma Gandhi at the time of independence to promote Indian fabrics and boycott English countrymen ruling India. Khadi is a beautiful luxurious fabric handspun entirely in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh by traditional weavers. The texture of khadi is such that it remains cool in summer and hot in winter making it a wonderful addition to any home or wardrobe. Our Khadi Curtains filter the right amount of light and last long due to the handloom nature of the fabric
Handloom
Handloom fabrics are handwoven fabrics created on a weaving device called a loom. The process involves entwining a set of vertical threads, the ‘warp”, with a set of horizontal threads, the ‘weft”. The loom holds the warp threads under tension to facilitate the interweaving of the weft threads over and above the warp using a weaving shuttle. This is done repeatedly to create the handloom fabric. The weaver’s hand is at the heart of this intricate process. They select the yarn, pattern, colour, texture, and precise technique to create their desired aesthetic. The fabric carries the energy and personality of the weaver and it becomes part of the garment’s story.
Dabu
Dabu or Bagru Print or Indigo Dyeing uses natural indigo to blockprint beautiful patterns. Just like Sanganeri blockprinting , Dabu blockprinting follows a similar procedure but in the form of resist dyeing. In Dabu fabric is block printed with dabu, which is a mud resist paste made from clay and gavar gum, and sprinkled with saw dust (so the fabric will not stick to itself), and laid to dry in the sun. The fabric is then dyed in Natural Indigo and laid to dry in the sun. The fabric is then washed to remove all traces of dabu mud revealing the resist area to be white and rest gets blue. The fabric is again dyed in the sun. We make various curtains, garments and bed linen using the Dabu Print.

1. How do I choose the right fabric for my curtains?
Curtain fabric selection largely depends on type of room, decor style, usage rate and maintaince frequency. Cotton curtains are easy to maintain and are versatile in terms of design but are not 100% blackout. For bedrooms, you might prefer a 100% blackout curtains in which case you need to layer the cotton curtains. Heavier fabrics offer blackout and a nice flow, but are difficult to maintain regularly.
2. Are these curtains available in custom lengths?
Yes, other than our standard sizes we even custom-length the curtains to accommodate any window or door of your room. Just mention the exact lenght you need and we will do the needful
3. What are the cleaning instructions for these curtains?
We recommend that our curtains should be hand-washed in cold water gently or machine-washed on a delicate cycle. Regular maintenance includes light dusting to keep them looking fresh and clean.
